I stayed for three consecutive nights during my business trip to Hongqiao, Shanghai. Originally, I only used The QUBE Hotel Shanghai Hongqiao as a temporary stop to catch up with the exhibition. Unexpectedly, the hotel's recreational facilities became my 'daily charging station'. During my non-stop schedule, I was able to carve out an hour of completely relaxing time for myself every day.
On the first day after checking in, I put down my luggage and followed the signs in the hallway to the recreational area. The first thing I came across was a 25 meter long indoor heated swimming pool. The water quality is so clear that you can see the blue dividing lines at the bottom of the pool. The water temperature remains stable at 28 degrees all year round, and there is no piercing coolness when you first enter the water. After swimming two laps and leaning against the edge of the pool to catch your breath, the waiter on the shore immediately handed you disinfected dry towels and warm lemon water, with surprisingly detailed instructions. The swimming pool is open until 10 pm, even if you are busy with the exhibition and don't return to the hotel until 9 pm, you can still change into a swimsuit and take a few rounds to soak away the sore legs and feet that have been standing all day.
Next to the swimming pool is a fully functional gym that is open 24 hours a day, so you don't have to rush to the opening time. Even if you work overtime and change the plan until early morning, you can go in and take a nap anytime. From walking machines and elliptical machines to a full range of strength dumbbells and Smith frames, professional equipment is fully equipped. The treadmill is facing the entire floor to ceiling glass, and when running, you can see the city night view outside the window, without the stuffiness of a closed gym. There are sweat wipes, bottled water and disinfection spray on the shelf in the corner for free. Even the sports hair band I forgot can be provided at the front desk for free. I don't need to carry a lot of sports equipment when traveling.
What surprised me the most was the leisure space hidden deep in the recreational area, not the corner area where two sofas are casually placed: the tablecloth of the pool table is smooth and even, and after playing with colleagues, you can turn around and enter the nearby book bar. The floor to ceiling bookshelves are filled with novels, travel essays, and local cultural publications from Shanghai. The effort of flipping through half of the idle books has relieved the tense nerves of the whole day. I also took some time to make an appointment at the hotel's SPA center. The technician had just the right strength and completely kneaded my stiff shoulders and neck, which had been carrying samples for three consecutive days. After finishing, I went back to my room and fell asleep. I didn't even suffer from insomnia during business trips.

I came out of Hongqiao Station with my suitcase on Friday evening, took the subway line 2 for a few stops, and arrived near the hotel. After walking for five minutes, I saw the glass facade of the hotel. The doorman came up from afar and took the box, leading me all the way to the lobby. The warm yellow light was wrapped in a faint fragrance, instantly relieving most of the exhaustion from the journey. The reception desk checked in very quickly. The staff noticed the cartoon decorations on my mobile phone case, smiled and said that the nearby anime Business District was within walking distance. Busy until late at night, I lay down on the bed with the mattress's softness and hardness just enough to support my waist. Even someone like me, who often suffers from back pain during business trips, relaxed after lying down for a while and slept soundly for three nights.
The breakfast in the hotel is my motivation to get up early every day. It is not a fancy but tasteless self-service. The freshly cooked Su style noodles have a delicious soup bottom, and the fried buns will explode when bitten. Even the side dishes of clear Congee are arranged neatly. After breakfast, I went to the gym to run for half an hour. The equipment was well maintained. The green plants outside the landing window made me feel comfortable. I didn't have to take time to go out to find the sports venues.
What surprised me the most was its location. It takes only ten minutes to walk to the subway station and a few stops to get to the National Convention and Exhibition Center by subway, so you don't have to worry about traffic jams during rush hour. The surrounding commercial district can be reached by taking a turn downstairs. After finishing the exhibition at night, I invited my colleagues to the nearby night market for barbecue. It only takes ten minutes to walk back to the hotel, so there is no need to worry about taking a taxi late at night.
I used to think that most hotels in Hongqiao were only for "passing through business" and it was inevitable to settle in, but this time I realized that The QUBE Hotel Shanghai Hongqiao really understands the needs of guests.
